I recently did some cleaning up of my blog rolls and took off some people who were not posting any more. As I was deleting their information I felt rather guilty about it. Some of these people were regular readers of my blog as was I of theirs and then suddenly something happened.
They got busy, had a baby or life just got in the way and one day they didn't post. Then it was a week, a month and before you know it nothing new was on their blog in a year. I left these people on the list because I kept thinking they might come back.
And, I have a confession to make, even though I took them off of the blog roll they're still on my favorites list in case they make a dramatic come back....
So what about you? When do you give up on a blog and take it off of your favorites list? Is it only when the person stops posting for a certain amount of time or do you also have people that you have stopped reading because the content of their blog changes? (i.e. they were a fun single blogger talking about all their nightclub stories and then they got married and suddenly it becomes all about how to properly clean out closets)

Believ eit or not I took Dooce off of mine recently-- I don't enjoy her posting anymore and she has become to "commercial" for me.
I think that is a case by case thing really.
It sounds like your family wants you to make this blog NON-EXISTENT?....
Anonymous-
???
You have confused me... where did you get family out of blogs?
I was not referring to my blog, I was referring to reading other people's blogs and when do you give up reading them.
How you related that to my blog going away is beyond me but for the record it's not going anywhere.
It sounds like "your family" should just quit reading your blog and pretend it is NON-EXSISTANT.
No one else seems to have a problem with it!
To be fair... I'm still confused....
I still don't know what "my family" has to do with this discussion.
However, it would be nice if the blogger troll that I have acquired would pretend this blog was NON-EXISTANT because none of the rude comments they post ever get read by anyone since I delete them, so they can quit wasting their time.
Wow these are quite interesting comments. I love how "your family" is in quotes. It kind of gives it away as to who it is. You only put things in quotes when they are not truely correct in all sense, like Debbie is our "sister". So by putting "your family" in quotes it eliminates the G side of the family and leaves the H side of the family but really only the Step side of the H family. So I don't why they don't just attach their name to the blog because it is not really like they are anonymous, just dumb and stupid, glad I don't ever have to associate with that side.
Look... Look... my sister commented... that is family... NOW you can say we are talking with family!! :-)
Actually I don't think it is "the family" in any sense except it is someone who has decided they represent people whom they don't and think they are speaking on behalf of people that they aren't. (Sorry to be so vague... I was asked not to approach it but this blogger troll just won't go away!!)
I never thought I'd be so entertained just by reading the anonymous comments. You should resist deleting them so the rest of us can get our daily chuckle.
Back to your question, though, I’ve pretty much given up on keeping a blogroll because the list kept getting longer and longer and every time I tried to narrow it down, I found new blogs to add to the list so the list got longer instead of shorter.
Btw: which blog has become all about how to properly clean a closet? I need to add that one to my list ;-)
haha- Your comments never cease to be entertaining!
I'm not the troll I'm just someone that likes your blogs.
I don't think the "troll" was trying to be rude. Even though their comments really don't make sense... they were saying that they don't see a problem with your blog. My guess is this: someone in the "family" must've been talking about your blog at a function or something so "troll" decided to come on here and read it. I think they were referring to your blog in general. Not to the post itself.
Oh Oh OH make a blog about the Troll!
I am highly jealous of your troll, but I can't understand what they were saying. Honestly, I don't get it.
But yeah, I usually wait until about 6 months have passed without an update before I remove them. But since I have a separate page for links, I don't give them much mind.
I don't understand troll speak. I'm lost too. Can I get a learn to speak troll cd at best buy?
Well one form of troll speak is telling one person something that another person said or did and then ask that person not to tell them you told them.
Hence the disappearing act or the anonymous use.
