Well, look at the positive. You can't fight a divorce decree without a lawyer and you can't get a lawyer without money.
Not your problem, you've come SO far. This is not your problem.
This should in NO WAY change your plans.....other than he cannot pay child support. Do not take on his problems - let him be held accountable for the fact that he can NO LONGER afford his apartment or food or gas for himself.
While I certainly agree with the other posters in that he was heading this way, I disagree that this is only his problem and you know that and that's why you are upset. Instead of scaring him sober, it may actually make things worse. Only give enough support that you can emotionally afford, but nothing more.

Please let this be his problem, Heather. You can't rescue him - you've already tried. Chances are that the pattern will continue of him losing employment and you will face issues of him not paying child support. Your lawyer will help you protect Zack. Your only responsibility now is to protect Zack - not to save Jake from himself. I am sorry you have to deal with this.
