Tonight I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner. As I was leaving I noticed a sign on the door saying that they would be closing early the day before Thanksgiving. It was at this point it dawned on me that this will be Zack's first Thanksgiving.
Then I got a little gitty and I had to contain my excitement. As long as I can remember I have always loved this time of year. It starts with Thanksgiving and then rolls right into Christmas. I love getting together with family and I love all the food and festivities.
So what about you? Do you get all excited every year around this time of year or could you do without all the festivities??

I am all about the holidays! Thanksgiving is the best. And this time of year with kids make it that much better!
I love this time of year....this year it is kind of bothering me for the following reasons (or at least I think they are the reasons)
1. Thanksgiving is so early this year...I mean we just had halloween day before yesterday right? (How can it already by the 12th????????)
2. I'm suppose to have a new grandbaby to play with over Thanksgiving and she is only teasing us making us think she is coming any day now.
3. The Salvation Army ringers are out already........I thought it was in the LAW BOOKS or the Constitution or something that they cannot be out until the day after Thanksgiving. A month of ding ding ding is more than enough, I give with a smile the first time I see/hear them....then it grates on the nerves.
4. All the stores have had Christmas Tress/decorations etc up since September so there is NOTHING that is reminding me (with the warm feelings of childhood) that it is just around the corner.
Now aren't you sorry you asked?
It's not that I don't like the holidays, but Bah-humbug! I wish it weren't a big deal. I like seeing family and the good food but could leave the rest. And as for the shopping!!!! I heard that Jordan Creek Mall will be open for just over 48 hours straight!! Really.... do we need that?.... Who wants to shop at a mall at 3 am on a Sat morning? This will be one of the first years of my working career that I'm not in retail and I plan to sit back and enjoy!! Four day weekend here I come!!!
Lost it as a young girl - my trip to hell with an alcoholic parent and an enabler parent.
Finally got it back and lost it again do to the last few years of hell with our daughter's meth addiction.
We have never been allowed a Christmas with Lilly. Sandra promises this year is with us. I'm so afraid I'm going to get my heart hurt, I want this so much. It's very hard to trust a recovering addict. Even one you have.
Sorry, meant to say even one you love.
